Our students have enjoyed and worked hard during Autumn. They have spent many hours helping out in the local community and have had really positive feedback from all of the local residents who have said a massive thank you to them all.
Some of our older students have visited the local café to interact with the public by ordering their own drinks and dealing with the payments themselves, allowing them the importance of managing money and counting change. They also visited the local library and charity shops to buy some new additions of games and books to add to Liberty's own personal library. Our older students have particularly enjoyed going to the local livestock market to see and learn how things work, allowing them to develop their knowledge ready for their future careers.
At Liberty Learning, we have extremely talented students that have really enjoyed the crafts this term, by designing their own milk bottle monsters, decorating monster biscuits and making a giant Autumn poster.
There has been a lot of fun and laughter from students joining one another around the campfires, cooking anything from cookies to damper bread with our very own forestry teacher. They carved tiny furniture sets that was crafted from wood found on site, as well as making whistles that actually worked! Group activities like these are really helping improve the social skills on all of the students.
During Autumn, our students helped the local community by clearing leaves on and around the war memorial site, this allowed them to learn and pay their respects as well as keeping it well maintained. They have all definitely worked extremely hard!
Some other interesting things happening this term was our pig and dog agility, scavenger hunts, growing and picking pumpkins, equine therapy, reptile talks, guitar lessons, magnet fishing, lessons on hoof trimming, a selection of Halloween based worksheets and collecting apples in the local community.
This term we are also welcoming many new animals to the farm -
Biscuit the goat,
Dave and Griff the rams,
Barbara, Ruth, Sheila, Woody and Buzz the sheep,
Sweetie and Velvet the rabbits.
Staff and students are working to settle the new animals and allowing them time to get used to their new homes.
Thank you to each and every one of you that has been attending Liberty Learning over Autumn. We cannot wait to see what Winter will bring for us all.
Please enjoy some of the photos below of different activities and things going on.
